Star 2B Performing Arts: Where Art and Heart Take Center Stage

Our Mission

Star 2B’s mission since 2012 has been to provide a safe space for young people from different backgrounds and locations to grow with programs in musical theater that inspire them to learn, be creative, collaborate, increase self-esteem and confidence, and think differently through high-quality productions, positive youth development, and education programs.

Our Story

Star 2B was founded in 2012 by two moms, Julie Altomari and Theresa Podhurst, who shared a vision: to create a place where kids could grow not just as performers, but as people. What started as a dream to bring high-quality theater training to their own children quickly blossomed into a vibrant community for families across the Hudson Valley.

At Star 2B, the stage is just the beginning. While our students learn to act, sing, and dance under the guidance of working industry professionals, they also gain something even more lasting—friendship, confidence, empathy, and a true sense of belonging.

We believe in the power of the arts to build not just performers, but resilient, thoughtful, and expressive human beings. Every rehearsal, every performance, and every moment in between is designed to help students grow—onstage and off.

Our faculty, made up of passionate artists from Broadway, film, television, and beyond, brings real-world experience to the classroom while creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive environment. They are mentors, role models, and cheerleaders who care deeply about each student’s journey.

Over the years, Star 2B has become more than a theater program—it’s a family. A place where kids find their voice, make lifelong friends, and learn skills they’ll carry into every part of their lives. Whether they pursue a career in the arts or follow a different path, our students leave with the tools to shine in whatever they choose to do.

Because at Star 2B, we’re not just building performers. We’re building community. 💫
